I am an award-winning educator who has been recognized for my dedication to social justice, activism, child advocacy, and education. I am an educator, equity and diversity trainer, social justice presenter, and lecturer who has expertise in organizational leadership, institutional racism, implicit and explicit bias, and history.
Born in Valdostsa, Georgia to military parents, I was orphaned and became a ward of New York state by the time I was six months old. Foster care created a toughness and resiliency in me to succeed. My adoptive mother additionally inspired me to have grit and to be intrinsically motivated to overcome challenges.
I hold a doctorate of education in administration and supervision from St. John's University. The coursework dominantly focused on organizational leadership. I also hold a post-graduate certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership from the College of Saint Rose. I have a master of arts in liberal studies with a concentration in history from SUNY Stony Brook University, a bachelor of arts in education with a focus on the social studies from SUNY College at Old Westbury, and a bachelor of arts in history from Southern Connecticut State University.
I was awarded a New York State Proclamation for Education and Activism as well as a New York State Assembly Citation for Child Advocacy presented by the honorable Assemblyman Phil Ramos. I continues to educate, advocate, and precipitate change for equity.
I am dedicated to securing equity for Black people in American society by any means necessary.
