Bio

My name is Diego Duarte (Do Art, get it?) Gomes and I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I am, however, a self-proclaimed Virginia Beach local, as I have lived here for the entirety of my adult life, and then some!
First and foremost, I’m a musician. Performing live shows was my sole source of income for over a decade, before taking-up photography and videography. I’ve traveled the country, playing from small venues, to enormous stages, in front of thousands, like main stage Sturgis Rally, for instance. The bulk of my performances however, have been regional cover-band shows, averaging 4 shows per week.
With years of experience with audio & video production, it was only natural for me to get into photography as well.
I've been dabbling with photography, on a professional level since mid 2018. Over the last couple of years, I've had the opportunity to shoot countless family sessions, headshots, engagement sessions, regional government and corporate events, along with tons of weddings and such, including some exotic locations, like Brazil, Greece and Hawaii, mostly as a second shooter for a very talented mentor, with whom I worked full time.
My first international wedding, under the DoArt banner, took place in Jamaica in February 2021! It was magical! SO ready for the next adventure!

As I venture into building my own brand, and photography business, I'm quickly finding my own style, and direction, as I have a passion for capturing people's special moments, and immortalizing them into everlasting visual memories.

Lastly, but most certainly not least, my main career, hobby, and passion is raising my daughter, who is my everything. I’m excited to show her the world, and teach her that she can achieve all goals, and overcome any and all adversities with will, effort, passion, discipline, and hard work! (And just maybe a little assistance from her Daddy.)
