Dr. Dionna Latimer-Hearn received her Ph.D. with distinction in Instructional Leadership for Changing Populations from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Her award-
winning and internationally recognized research focuses on African American English (AAE) and race and class equity in education. Dr. Latimer-Hearn is the author of the book Unexpected Places, and is the founder and education director of REACT Initiative, a Christian nonprofit organization that promotes equity in education. She is also the founder of Respect The Dialect a Facebook group and website
promoting awareness and understanding of AAE.
