CHARLES DIXON
Seasoned music industry veteran with an expertise in selecting, promoting and breaking lead singles for R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop.
Charles Dixon has over thirty five years experience in the music industry. He began his career in radio and later worked with major record labels, such as Columbia, EMI and MCA as well as top independent labels, such as Tommy Boy, TVT, Pendulum/Elecktra. In 2003, Charles formed SCIP offering consulting and promoting services to Indie and Major Labels.
After forming SCIP, Charles discovered and developed Australian aspiring artist Che’Nelle and signed her to Virgin/Capitol Records and EMI Japan via SCIP Records. Che’Nelle has achieved success internationally, including Platinum selling status in Japan, several Gold Disc Awards and anendorsement deal with a major lingerie brand.
From 1998 to 2013, Charles has programmed and mixed a one hour segment of R&B music for Music Choice that ran 14 times a week on the R&B Hits channel with 55 million subscribers (via Direct TV, cable and the Internet with a combined audience of over 70 million households (US&UK). Charles also serves as a consultant for In Music Brands (AKAI, Rane Dennon DJ, Alto, ION and Numark) line of DJ and production equipment and Algoridim a DJ software company (djay pro AI and Neural Mix). Ensuring that he remains on top of urban music trends, he continues to serve as a Master Mixer DJ for WBLS (1992 – 1995, 2009 to Present) on Friday Late Nights and Holidays Mix Events.
During his music industry career, Charles has developed a reputation for successfully setting up and breaking records among top DJs, radio and record pools.
After leaving Columbia He independently promoted Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love”, including to DJs and radio for six months before the video was shot.
He is credited with programming the first arbitron rated mixshow in the Washinton Metro that would eventually propel Washington D.C.’s WPGC from #22 to #1 in less than three years.
