Bio

I am a lifetime entrepreneur, polyglot, ex-nomad and passionate networker with a proven track record for complex coordination of deep tech and setting up innovative & sustainable business models. Between 2002 and 2017, I built up phase6 from a student project to a multi-million Euro business as the leading provider of language learning software to the public school system in Germany. I am also recognized for pioneering the use of A.I. and Natural Language Processing in EdTech with the phase6 spin-off 'Alphary' - a technology that was licensed by Oxford University Press.

Having lived and worked in nine countries across four continents, I was able to build a global network of fascinating individuals and learn about diverse business cultures. This enables me to gratefully serve several positive-impact business founders as a guide and advisor via Neocortek, the trading name of my UK-based sole proprietorship established in 2017.

In my free time I study computer science and think a lot about the intersection of neuroscience, knowledge graphs, A.I. and productivity tools - and obsess about the question, how we can design a brain-friendly interaction model between humans and computers / the internet. I get particularly excited about the possibility that the next generation of brain-computer interfaces might get us closer to Steve Job's famous vision of "computers as bicycles for the mind" (rather than as the source of information and cognitive overload that they have turned out to be).
