In my position as Reentry Coordinator for Hamilton County of Ohio, I advance the lives of men and women with criminal backgrounds by helping them find sustainable employment and work towards self-sufficiency and become a contributing member of their communities. I also support larger county initiatives that have resulted in millions of dollars in savings for public programs.
Throughout my tenure at Hamilton County Office of Reentry (HCOR), I have attributed to $1.7 million in savings as the leader for all employment activities for the Cincinnati Reds Stadium Seating Project. By aiding more than 1,500 individuals enroll in healthcare services at the local justice center, I have helped save taxpayer dollars. As a representative of HCOR, I hold a position on governing board of Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) to support community policing and help curb city violence.
In early 2017, I played an intrical part in the implementation of a pre-release program for high risk male offenders sentenced to Hamilton County Justice Center. Through this program, we teach job readiness skills, cognitive behavioral therapy and the importance of their role in society. The overall health of the inmate is addressed by means of mental health treatment as well as any substance abuse issues. In preparation of release, we also coordinate any needed housing, employment and/or child support obligations. Since the application of this curriculum, our program’s recidivism rate has remained substantially below the national average.
In an effort to address similar needs for the female population housed at River City Correctional Institution, I collaborated with Cincinnati State to coordinate Logistical Training to gain access to the workforce upon release.
