David Mackenzie is a composer based in Bristol, UK. He is known for his unconventional style and use of storytelling techniques, taking influences from classical and electronic music as well as literature and film. Mackenzie draws on his own life story as inspiration for his music. From a young age he experienced conflict within his family; from serious mental health illnesses to fractured relationships and separations. Powerful encounters with music led to him forging his own path as a musician and composer, and he absorbed the transcendent, emotionally transformative quality of the artists he was listening to into his own work and processes. With his brand, he is interested in exploring the depths of the human condition, challenging the zeitgeist and pushing through his own internal boundaries and discomforts to continue to grow as an artist. His vision and voice celebrates independence and stands against mediocrity and conformity.
