* Founder and editorial director of Rock the Cradle Books, the publishing house that poses the question, “What does it look like when the protagonist of any story, of any type or topic, just happens to be a Black child, teen or young adult?”
*A veteran of Scholastic Inc., the world’s largest children’s book publisher, where I served as founding editorial director of Read and Rise, a quarterly literary magazine for African-American children and families, published in conjunction with the National Urban League
*Experienced editor who’s worked with established authors including Christine Taylor-Butler, Wade Hudson and Juwanda Ford, welcomed new authors such as Crystal Allen, and helped introduce artists like Frank Morrison to wider audiences by choosing them to illustrate stories and develop and write stories
*Journalist and storyteller, including being one of the first to interview members and descendants of the Black families representing all five lawsuits comprising the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling. “It wasn’t only Brown.”
*Master copyeditor, teacher and trainer who’s taught as an adjunct professor at New York University, the alma mater.
