Multimedia Producer, Director, and Actress in a constant creative process
Cydia Flowers is a Chicago born Actress, Director, and Artist. In 2018, she received her Bachelor's in Film and Psychology from Howard University, where she also produced her first documentary short film, “Oreo,” an official selection at the Movies in the Parks: Chicago Onscreen Film Showcase (2016). Used as a platform to discuss self concept in young Black children, it set the stage for the emphasis of psychological concepts in her storytelling.
After receiving her degree, she furthered her education at Yale University Conservatory for Actors, where she immersed herself in acting and voice technique, improvisation, movement, and dramaturgy.
After she returned back to Chicago, she created FlowerStudio Productions and began producing and directing Cindi and The City (webseries), and Creative Directing The Other Side With Kristina Spicer (entertainment news).
In January 2019, she was accepted into the Sundance Institute Director’s Collab program, where through the mentorship of Peter Sollett, she learned key components of naturalistic film directing.
That same year, she performed in a number of roles inclusive of a lead role in 'The Interrogation of Sandra Bland' interpreted and directed by London-based playwright Mojisola Adebayo, presented at The Goodman Theatre, Madame Stanley in Eclectic Full Contact Theatre's adaptation of Richard III, and other pieces around requiring quick turnarounds of dynamic characters.
She currently is in development of a short film and continues to work toward her goal of producing, directing, and acting on stage and screen.
To stay creative during the complications of covid-19, she has also started a youtube channel where she posts monologues, acting covers, and her own short form film content with FlowerStudio!
