I stand with Ukraine!

I am raising a gofundme fund for my friend and colleague Wole Akpose so that he can write a book on “Living with Dialysis” that describes his journey with kidney failure and dialysis. He shares his experience compensating for failures in the diagnostic and treatment protocols for kidney failure and dialysis.

On Saturdays at 6 pm EST I host Listen and Be Heard with Adriana Romero. In “Listen and Be Heard” we practice Active Listening. Active listening is: Neutral and nonjudgmental, Patient, Asking questions, Reflecting back what is said, Asking for clarification, Summarizing.

Dr. Carolyn Turbyfill, (in Burlington, North Carolina, USA), is a Technical Executive with 30+ years of experience in: Security; Risk Management; Enterprise Products and Services. She has managed teams (in large companies and startups) that built leading edge products including:

- The first database benchmark using experimental design techniques, the Wisconsin Benchmark which won the VLDB Best Paper Award;
- One of the first wireless LAN's with radio, antenna and IP Layer encryption at Sun Microsystems;
- The first Firewall Appliance, the Sun Microsystems SunScreen SPF 100 which also included a certificate authority and one of the first commercial IP Layer VPN's, SKIP, which won the LAN Magazine Product of the year Award;
- The first round-trip email marketing system with interactive Java applets that was a precursor to PayPal at Messagemedia;
- The first Managed Security Service at Counterpane Internet Security;
- The first virtualized automated test environments for application stacks, the StackSafe Test Center which won an ITIL Pink Elephant award.

Dr. Turbyfill was the first member of WITI (Women in Technology International) in Silicon Valley. She is a member of the WITI Advisory Board and the WITI Hall of Fame.

Dr. Turbyfill has a B.A, in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. the
