Crystal Toussant was born in Houston, TX on August 20, 1973. She grew up in Southeast Houston where she attended school at Alcott Elementary, Hamilton Middle School (Vanguard Program), and Jesse H. Jones High School (Vanguard Program). Crystal’s first starring role was as Snow White in Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs at Alcott Elementary. She went on to participate in numerous drama & speech tournaments and programs throughout her matriculation in grade school. Crystal’s first paid acting job was while she was in High School. She was a narrator for Thomas Meloncon’s HIV/AIDS Prevention play “It’s Hard to Believe”. While in high school, Crystal received a Sammy Davis Jr. Award for an original dramatic interpretation. Crystal graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Drama from Spelman College.
While at Spelman College, she was privileged to be a part of the Maya Angelou Transformation Ensemble where she took master classes from professional choreographers such as Debbie Allen, Otis Sallid (School Daze), and Charles Auggins(Choreographs for Mick Jagger). During Crystal’s Fifteen year plus career in entertainment, she has been blessed to work on such events as TLC’s Creep Video, OutKast’s Video Git Up, Git Out, 1996 Centennial Olympic Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies, N.A.A.C.P. Image Awards, AFI Salute to Martin Scorsese, The Academy Awards, Nickelodeon, and numerous T.V. & Film projects.
Crystal is a professional actor, poet, and an independent filmmaker on the rise. Crystal’s ultimate goal is to strengthen the development of her production company: Crystalized Productions where she writes, produces, and directs T.V., Film, and Theatrical projects. She is also a Certified Theater Arts Educator in the Yes Prep Public School System at Yes Prep Northside. Crystal enjoys singing, dancing, acting, scrap booking, teaching, and writing. She is also very proud to be the mother of Dorrian David Toussant II (D.J). & Chloe’ Marsai Toussant.
