Conscientious young black men are said to be uncommon in our society today, but even rarer, are respected African American leaders like Tahjudeen Gillespie. He’s Black, he’s a Muslim, he’s an Entrepreneur, he’s a Community Activist, he’s a Motivational Speaker and to top it all off he is a Ex-Felon. Tahjudeen has an incredible and sincere passion that has and continues to touch numerous boys and young men of color throughout the country through his religious beliefs.

“From Blocks 2 Boardrooms- Teach a life, save a life. Experience is what keeps us connected.” From Blocks 2 Boardrooms primary focus is helping and empowering and encouraging at risk boys and young men of color that are on the border of the school to prison pipeline to compete with the best them. We have partnered with many other organizations that focus on solutions for what’s at stake! The program educates and motivates boys and young men of color that are considered “DISENFRANCHISED” by offering them educational support(Diploma/GED,Skill Trade,College) through economic empowerment, leadership, team building, life skills, volunteerism, financial literacy and manners(etiquettes). The program is looking to partner with those involved in the “Second Chance Act of 2007” to offer family support with those with incarcerated parents and children to prevent repeat offending. It truly takes a village to make an impacting change. From Blocks 2 Boardrooms also offers family support for those boys and young men of color that are attracted to the street life, or have no family, we give them an alternative to gang life, incarceration, and the death lifestyle.

Tahjudeen Gillespie is the true definition of a community activist and business professional. He volunteers his time in his community here in the Grand Rapids, Michigan’s SouthEast Side 49507… He states: “Our Maker will not change our conditions, until we change the conditions of ourselves.Therefore he came to inspire, help, redirect and most importantly, he decided to listen to their stories and not judge anyone for any reason! Most of the boys and young men of color that he meets, are broken spiritually, mentally and economically. Tahjudeen’s passion to assist, inspire, and encourage at risk boys and young men of color came due to his own experiences.
