Executive Director of Initiatives, Humboldt State University

Connie Stewart is a former Arcata California Mayor and City Councilwoman . She is also the former Executive Director at the California Center for Rural Policy (CCRP) a research center committed to informing policy, building community, and promoting the health and well-being of rural people and environments. She now serves as Chief Policy Advisor for CCRP. The Center works on policy for health and human services; broadband deployment; wealth creation and economic development; food systems and food security; and data and evaluation services for community programs. She is a member of Aspen Institute Community Strategies Group’s Rural Development Innovation Group and serves on the Board of Directors of Redwood Acres Fairground and the Open Door Community Health Center’s Board of Directors.
