Hi! I’m Kyoseong Koo, a.k.a. pixelartfighter, a graphic artist with 16 years of career in game industry.
In my youth, I was deeply into retro games such as Nintendo and MSX. <Super Mario>, <The Legend of Zelda: Metal Gear Solid>, and <Prince of Persia> were my favorite games back then and I dreamed to be a game developer when playing those games. In retrospect, I kind of made that dream come true since I’m working in game industry, but I felt somewhat empty. I had strong desire to express the nostalgic feelings from my youth.
And then I found pixel art, the perfect medium for me to fill that empt iness. So, I started to reinterpret memes and famous characters into ‘lo-fi pixel arts’.
It became a sheer delight for me to create pixel arts of my own by reversing trend of ‘make everything in 4K UHD’, and rather crush those HQ images into low resolution. And that is what pixel art is all about - sophisticated decorations are totally omitted, yet the essence of the subject is still there.
Luckily, with the rise of NFT marketplace, I can continue my work gladly.
And it’s kind of interesting for me to watch my 9-year-old son playing Roblux and Minecraft. It feels like I’m witnessing the whole new transformation of game industry.
That’s all. Thanks for reading, and if you are intrigued, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to visit my instagram and twitter account and even push the follow button. I’ll lil
