Bio

Social entrepreneur, conceptualist and firestarter of social network and community Campfire Convention, an evolutionary platform for creative thinkers, funded and shaped by its own members, which also stages events with community focus.

Prior to that, probably best known as the co-founder of The Big Chill, and originator of the 'boutique' festival experience - early exposure to such names as Lily Allen, Goldfrapp, Amy Winehouse, Gotan Project, Röyksopp, Zero 7 ...

Mid 80s, I spontaneously recorded US folk singer Michelle Shocked on a walkman around a Texas campfire for my fledgling Cooking Vinyl label. The resulting album ‘The Texas Campfire Tapes’, with its £1 ‘field recording’ budget, went on to top the independent album charts in 1987.

I also moonlight as a writer, editor, DJ, journalist, DIY film-maker and podcaster and have a passion for radio (I have hosted two BBC Radio 2 chill out shows.)

As an artist, I record under the name of Chilled By Nature, (2006 ‘Under One Sun’) and more recently as producer of Campfire Circle Singers ‘Sa Ta Na Ma’.

Resigned as a shareholder and director of The Big Chill in 2007.

After several years living in Frome, Somerset, I moved to Paros, Greece in 2020 where I spend time in nature and working on Campfire. www.campfireconvention.uk
