If I told you my child I love you today
Would you stop and listen to what I have to say
If I told you my child I want to spend time with you
Would you take time to say you want to be with me too
If I take time my child to tell you to come to me
Would you take time to find out How I cause you to be free
If I told you my child you are the apple of my eye
Would you take time to try and even find out why
If I take time my child to tell you I want you to be free
Would you take time to get to know me
If I told you my child I want you to occupy
Would you run away in fear, hide and cry
If I told you my child I create you to be my own
Would you come into my presence to be known
I asked you all these question to have a dialogue with you
Hoping you would want to talk to me too
All the questions I ask you are still true
I know how to reach for you, will you reach for me too
I miss hearing your voice when you spoke to me
Talking about all the things you wanted to be
I leave these choices in your hand
I’m not a God who will make a demand

Our intimate conversations always thrill my heart
I waited each day for you to wake up and start
To sing to me songs of worship and praise
As you spoke from your heart and I hear your voice raise
