James H. Burns earned his bachelor’s degree in Special education with a concentration in behavioral sciences from Jersey City University. He earned his master’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in administration and supervision from Jersey City University. He is a certified Teacher of the Handicapped and school administrator. He began teaching in 1977 and taught in the following school districts: Plainfield, New Jersey, Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and Freehold Regional in New Jersey. He began his administrative career in 1989 and has served as a supervisor of instruction, a middle school and high school vice principal, and a high school principal of a school for clinically disordered students. He currently is an adjunct graduate instructor for Gratz College in Pennsylvania, The College of New Jersey, and Washington College in Maryland. He founded Proactive Educational concepts in 1991, and he is a consultant in schools throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.
In 2015 Jim was awarded the degree of Dr. of humane letters by Gratz college in Pennsylvania for his Continued work over 30 years in the area of anti-bullying and student behavior management.
