In broken english, Dr. Antonio said in his soft, caring, yet matter of fact tone, "We have to deliver the baby to save Diana's life."
"Deliver the baby" I exclaimed! "I don't understand? We are only half way?"
He said, "Yes."
The light blue walls of that cold hospital room seemed to be closing in around me as it was getting hard to breathe. I was so perplexed and just kept saying, "I don't understand?"
Meanwhile, Diana was completely out of it, shaking her head side to side muttering, "Let me die, just save the baby."
Dr. Antonio with a nervous half-suppressed laugh, "No Diana, we save the MamΓ‘."
