Bio

Bram Smeele 🇪🇬🇹🇩🇱🇷

Drummer🥁 , teacher and businessman

Born in 1964 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands he started playing drums at the age of 15. He was taught to play the drums by various teachers before entering the ‘Koninklijke Conservatorium’ (Royal School of Music) in The Hague.

Two years he followed lessons giving by Eric Ineke, a well-known jazz drummer.
Due to cicumstances he had to postpone his education to make a living for himself.

Founding his own compay

He decided to start his own company. He created a number of bands a.o, ‘Jazzcapade’ and worked to sell his bands to the public. He worked with musicians, such as Peter Beets, Judith Nijland and Marietta Aprea. Apart for the jazzquartet he started a coverband named Jerboa in various formations, small to a 10 man band. I booked 80 performances per year. At present Bram works next to his musical work as a manager responsible for bookings and management of a number of bands, such as “The New Party’. In addition he played the drums for a number of performers such as Big Black & Beautiful and Berget Lewis.

Master in Music and teacher

In the beginning of his career there were changes in his life caused by moving to the north of The Netherlands. I had to make a new start, but entered the School of Music in Zwolle. Using his contacts he started a number of cover bands, such as True Colors and Go Yellow, which were very succesful.

In the year 2003 he received his Bachelor Degree in Music, percussion light Music.
Wanting to complete his musical education he entered the Master program.

The teachers, such as Peter Berk, Rene Cremers and Hans Dekkers give him a good base for the future in Music.

In 2007 Bram got his master’s degree in Music and completed a further education to be able to teach Music in school in The Netherlands which requires a special diploma to be able to teach.

New York

Being very motivated by his study he decided to go to New York and entered the Dummers Collective, studiying with Kim Plainfield and Pat Patrillo. It proved to be and instructive time for him and giving him a base for his musical career. This means work hard, never say no and rewarded with a financial incentive to live as a musician.

This experience in New York still Works for him in The Neterlands.
