Bio
UCLA doctoral candidate in Chicana/o Studies, photographer 📸, and documentarian 🎥 . My work focuses on the sport of boxing 🥊 and the ways Black and Brown boxers express themselves via the most important, yet understudied component of the sport: The Ring Entrance.
I have written for Remezcla, Mitu, and LA Taco and featured on ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN, Bleacher Report, New York Times, and Associated Press. Currently working on “Rings of Dissent: Boxing and the Performance of Rebellion” (Under review by University of North Carolina Press) with Dr. Gaye Theresa Johnson and Dr. David J. Leonard and Miles Before the Bell documentary with Ise Lyfe.
