This entity we call the self is not fixed, but a fluid state, a process changing moment to moment. It is a series of thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions, mental images and self talk, it’s is neither stable, permanent or separate. It is also the beliefs we hold to be true, that we take on from childhood, I am Mel, I am a boy, I’m a good boy or bad, clever or stupid. It is an ever evolving bundle of concepts we apply and believe to be true, however it’s nothing more than a story, a narrative. We live our lives defined by our narrative and it’s all made up. Our thoughts and feelings are shaped by our narrative and our bodies respond via our limbic system- as we think so shall we feel.


Live in the moment, there is no past or future, just the eternal now and together with the understanding that life just happens, no reasons, it just happens; we aren’t in control of it, our egos cling to the illusion that we have control, but that’s all it ever is, like so much about this experience, it’s an illusion. It doesn’t happen to you, it just happens; uncertainty is to be embraced, not knowing is to be welcomed, and that’s the beauty of it, life will unfold before you whatever; embrace it with open arms the good, the bad, the ugly it’s all meant be, see the divinity in it all.
