David Wilson (BMus, Mmus) is a singer, conductor, professional voice instructor, yoga teacher, embodiment coach, trauma-informed breath therapist and creator of The Wilson Method.
He is the author of four eBooks, one each on Voice, Breathing, Pranayama and Qi Gong.
He is recognized across Canada as a leading authority on the use of restorative yoga, breath therapy and full-body vocal pedagogy for strong, healthy, embodied singing.
He has served as Artistic Director for numerous choirs, including founding Calgary’s Spiritus Chamber Choir – winning the “International Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award” for their first CD, "Crossing Bridges". David received the Alberta Choral Federation’s Con Spirito Award in 1997, and in 2004 was invited to the Évora Cathedral Music School in Portugal to present his Master's Thesis, 'Manuel Cardoso'.
He has conducted numerous operas and musical productions, including Messiah, La Bohème, Carmen, La Traviata, My Fair Lady, Mikado, RENT.
He has recently created The Wilson Method myo-fascial balls, available on his website.
Along with his home-based voice studio, David currently holds positions with Edmonton Musical Theatre, the University of Alberta voice area, Brott Opera Summer Academy, and the Theatre Arts program at MacEwan University.
