Blaize Itodo is a self-taught social documentary photographer/filmmaker and journalist from Nigeria. He focuses his lens-based practice on contributing to the change in perception of human reality in his community by way of encouraging Africans to own their narrative by telling their stories.
The primary focus of his work is on exploring and expressing themes related to Art, tourism, changing culture and common identity.
His practice is research based. He is interested in the flow of information in and out of Africa and how this information reflects on founded/unfounded belief systems. He is also exploring power dynamics of these narrative in terms of meaning and the acceptability, how the interplay of these mix affects human relationships as manifested in the multi-faceted layers of the human reality as Africa develops.
Blaize is the founder of Abuja Center for Photography, ACP, a co-founder of Photo-Carrefour, and a contributor to the growth of the photography community in Abuja. He is a Wiki-Nigeria photography Judge and a member African Photo-Journalism Data Base, APJD collective and have spoken and contributed to the growth of the African narrative through photography and documentary film making.
His works has featured in a number of exhibitions and publications across Nigeria.
