Brian K. Butler is an education consultant who has worked with thousands of schools throughout the United
States, Australia, and Canada presenting on the PLC at Work and RTI at Work models. Brian is a retired principal
who last served at Mason Crest Elementary School Mason Crest received Solution Tree’s first annual DuFour Award in 2016. The honor, named for Professional Learning Communities at Work process architect Richard DuFour, credits high-performing PLCs that demonstrate exceptional levels of student achievement. The recipient of the DuFour Award is the highest award that a PLC at Work school can achieve.
Brian has over 30 years of experience as an educator.
He graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Speech Communications and played Division 1 Basketball there. Brian’s roommate and teammate at GW was Mike Brown who played for 11 years in the NBA and was a teammate of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen with the Chicago Bulls and John Stockton and Karl Malone with the Utah Jazz.
Brian played professionally in Europe in 1987-88 before a knee injury ended his career.
He has a teaching certificate in physical education and a master’s degree in counseling from George Mason University and an endorsement in school administration from The University of Virginia.
