Barb is a registered Developmental Educator and Deputy Chair of Developmental Educators Australia, and a Neurodiversity Employment Consultant and Life Coach for neurodivergent adults (autism, ADHD and dyslexia). Barb has a Master of Autism (education) with focus on employment from the University of Wollongong, where she is also a researcher and co-lead on a recent project in the area of self-determination and self-advocacy for adults on the autism spectrum.
Barb is a published researcher in the Sage Journal Autism, in the areas of autism and mental health.
Barb is founder of Spectrum Women and editor and coauthor with Dr Michelle Garnett of the internationally acclaimed book, Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism, ranked Number 1 best Indy Book by The Independent in 2019.
Barb has spoken internationally and was an invited Keynote presenter at the National Institute of Mental Health, Washington DC speaking on autism and women.
Barb is a prolific writer and public speaker in the areas of employment, self care, and neurodiversity.
Barb identifies as neurodivergent, being diagnosed with autism, ADHD and dyslexia in 2009, and promotes a strength-based and person-centred approach in her work and life. The love of her life is her bike, Ron Strom Burgundy, a Suzuki Vstrom DL 1000 that assists her with good self care practices, reducing anxiety and depression.
