Bio

SHRI. ARJUN KALIPRASAD.
Arjun Kaliprasad, a post graduate in music- tabla, hails from a simple family in Thrissur, Kerala. His mother Smt. Srilatha is a Sanskrit pandita and a renowned lecturer. His father Shri. Sanal is a wonderful music enthusiast. It is said that music starts where speech ends. Being an inquisitive toddler along with his siblings, Arjun always enjoyed tapping his toes, playing beats on the utensils and gaining interest in learning percussion instrument.
He initially started learning Mridangam at the age of 9 and later transited to tabla. Initially learnt under Pt. Unniraj Kanimangalam and also from Pt. Shivadas chemmenjeri from Calicut. He has completed his B.A – Bachelor of Arts in tabla and M.A – Master of Arts in tabla with 1st rank and gold medal,under the guidance of Shri. Ganesh Gorta and Dr. Dundayya Swamy.
Arjun currently learning from the great scholar , Musicologist and Tabla maestro Pt. Umesh Moghe.

Arjun has accompanied some of the finest music maestros of the country

He has received ‘B’ grade from ALL INDIA RADIO, and 2nd rank in National Level solo competition held by All India Radio. He has also received 1st rank in Sate Level – South Zone Youth Festival. He has also performed tabla solos all over India and has been a part of National Level recording projects. Dedicated towards teaching, learning and performances, Arjun is willing to innovate new perspectives in order to preserve and share the rich heritage of Indian Music.
