TyWanna (Ari) Patrick is the owner/operator of NuBginN's Natural Hair & Wellness Center in the Austin area on Chicago's west side. Her motto is "Free your hair".
TyWanna”Ari” has been a licensed Cosmetologist in Illinois for over 32yrs and Natural Hair Instructor for 15 yrs. For the past 5yrs Ari worked as a licensed Braid Teacher/Natural hair Instructor at Amazon Natural Look Academy & Evolving Textures Continuing Education Program. Her path of natural hair care and entrepreneurship started while braiding hair in grammar school to earn extra money.
Ari attended Wilfred Academy Cosmetology School taking evening classes while being a junior high school. Graduating from both high school & cosmetology school a year and a half later she set her sights on Dudley's Cosmetology Advanced training center in Greensboro,NC. completing their program successfully.
She has always continued to seek as much knowledge, information & techniques as possible which prompted her to also attend Taaliah Waajid Advanced natural hair workshops in 2000, Biostrand wholistic hair care seminars, and countless others.
Ari has worked with Biostrand Products Company in their research & development division, Organic Root Stimulator as a natural hair platform artist, has taught classes at the Sankofa hair show , Proud Lady Beauty Show, Natural Hair Industry Convention and participated in natural hair care forums and panel discussions all over Chicago as well as around the country. Ari has assisted with helping to open and is an Instructor at one of the first Natural hair institutes in Chicago that educates and trains individuals interested in becoming a professional in the Natural Hair industry as well as cosmetologist seeking to incorporate natural hair care/styling to their list of services.
While a member of the Illinois Association of Hair Braiders TyWanna was instrumental in helping to pass legislation for newly implemented Illinois Braiders License and is presently an executive member of the Natural Hair Professionals. TyWanna is also a proud & humble recipient of the Master Pioneer of Natural Hair Awards in 2017.
