My lab’s goal is to develop new genomic resources from wild crop relatives to facilitate the breeding of climate “smart” pome fruit cultivars. In addition, we aim to bred for unique aroma and flavor profiles that exists within the vast diversity of our germplasm resources. Lastly, we are evaluating a diversity panel of more than 150 cider apple and perry pear varieties for production in the Midwest and mid-Atlantic regions.
