Bio

Anoop Menon, B.Arch, MA Urban Design, is the founder and principal architect of A M Architecture & More, Chennai with over 15 years of practice.

He is a proud alumnus of School of Architecture & Interior Design, SRM IST - KTR campus for his undergraduate degree and Newcastle University, UK for his post graduate degree.

He spent the early years of his career working with various offices of architecture and interior design, in Chennai who handled diverse projects ranging from residential, commercial & interior architecture.

He currently is also a committed academician at his former alma matter and in pursuit of continued learning he is currently researching in housing engaged through his second Masters in Architecture specialisation in housing.

Anoop’s distinct lineage, has given him a deep understanding in culture and tradition. Throughout his childhood he has been brought up in an environment rich in inheritance of articles of antiquity.

Owing to this, his interests to objects of antiquity are very strong and he often finds himself curating and collecting them, for personal use and projects, from auction houses to flea markets.

Anoop desires to be part of the process that help shape a place/space and bring forth the change, that he wishes to see in this society. He strongly believes that an architect is a problem solver who unties the knots of problems through design.

To ensure this he follows an approach, to provide design solutions, through systematic and process oriented thinking for every challenge put forth, to arrive at the desired solutions specific to a project’s/ client’s needs and wants.

His practice is strongly built around the facets of value, practicality and viable outcomes that is cherished by all. He has a deep interest in material, colour, texture and art which is consistently visible in his work. He strongly believes in inclusive practice and is committed in involving local skilled personnel, artists, craftsmen and technicians to profess his design language.

He is also determined to ensure knowledge sharing and hence continuously involved in academics.

He has a four 'C' approach to practice

Communicate - communicate with the client, understand their needs and wants.
Conceptualise - conceptualise based on the project’s/client’s needs and wants.
Collaborate - collaborate and ideate having the client as a team member along with other members of the team.
Celebrate - celebrate the outcome achieved by the team.
