Andrea Izzy Anthony is a screenwriter, filmmaker, and actor.
A native of North Carolina, she spent her formative years slinging popcorn at an indie movie theatre, where she fully embraced her love of oddball characters on screen and in real life.
She holds a BFA in Acting from UNCGreensboro, attended the Maggie Flanigan Meisner Conservatory Program, studied at Upright Citizens Brigade and Kimball Studios.
Her evolving trajectory took her from touring performer, through an unexpected illness, to the hustle of retail real estate in NYC. (Yup, that was unexpected, and she even landed a few awards in that field). She spent a decade and a half in the city navigating corridors of cubicles and audition doors, before heading south to rediscover nature and write in earnest.
Now in her final semester of her MFA in Filmmaking from The UNC School of the Arts, she is currently developing several episodic dramedies that navigate the thin line between audacious optimism and staggering vulnerability.
As a filmmaker she continues to experiment and has directed short films and proofs of concept ranging from post-apocalyptic films, sketch comedy, poetic experimental shorts, and explorations of animated content.
She has an insatiable love of Jim Henson Creations, is known to geek out about history, and loves a great rock concert.
