Kweku Ananse is far more than a mere trickster god, standing betwixt and between, he’s the very essence of contradiction, paradox and indeterminacy.

Owner of all the stories, acquired from the skygod Nyankopon with his unrelenting desire, ingenuity and the resourcefulness of his wife Aso.

His house is located at the boundary-less crossroad of dreams and reality, on a riverbed of laughs, hopes, wonder, joy, love, hate, despair, all the things that make up the universe, where spacetime is infinite.

ANANSE HOUSE is the Conduit for all stories, where tales in every form enter into all realms. All stories existing in this world were first told, heard, seen, read or experienced at the home of the Spider-god.

His children curate these stories, Ntukuma is the master of the first floor of oral storytelling. Etinkelenkele organizes the second floor of written prose and poetry. Ntin catalogs his father‘s visual tales.

Inspired by the need and desire to curate our Jamaican stories from the hearts, minds and mouths of our greatest living storytellers. The mesmerised souls of listeners Oniffe White, Dainty Wilson and Sherando Ferril went searching and found the location of ANANSE HOUSE.

The mythical Amina Blackwood Meeks, The cultural flame keeper Fae Ellington, humorist and poet Owen “Blakka” Ellis, the legendary Oliver Samuels, Natalie Corthesy, Trudy Knockless, Elizabeth Saddler are some of the storytellers who will be sharing with you many genre of stories for you to embrace.
