Audio production, video editing and voice over have been part of James's life since he was about 12 years old, when he literally taught himself how to edit music with a grease pencil, razor blade and 3M Scotch tape.
For more than 40 years James worked as a professional magician with many of his award-winning performances perfectly synchronized to music. His performing and audio skills let him to a 25-year career with NBC television in San Diego during which he received 11 Emmy awards for audio production and sound design.
As an Emmy winning audio producer director and copywriter James has been providing award-winning sound design and audio production for more than six decades. He is familiar with all areas of television production and has designed two TV audio control rooms, a TV remote audio truck and more than a dozen professional sound treated home studios for voiceover recording.
As a voice actor James Alburger has gained a reputation for delivering exceptional voice over performances on time and exceeding client expectations for a wide variety of projects ranging from radio commercials, to self-guided tour narrations, to web learning, to dialogue, to specialized character voice work, to delivery of complex technical and medical scripts.
Since 1997 James has worked with people who want to break into voice over as a teacher coach, demo producer and owner of the Voice Acting Academy and VoiceActing.com.
He literally wrote the book on voice acting. His book, "The Art of Voice Acting" teaches the craft and business of VoiceOver and is a theater arts textbook at dozens of Universities in the US, the UK and China. He provides continued support through his Mastermind group The Conductors Club (ConductorsClub.com).
In 2007 James Alburger and Penny Abshire created "The VoiceOver International Creative Experience." VOICE was the first International voice over convention and became the inspiration for more than a half dozen other major conventions and annual events for voice actors.
In addition to his voice over work and performance coaching, James also works as an audio producer for the film and video production industry. He handles on location sound mixing, audio post production, ADR, Foley, directing and sound design for independent filmmakers, video producers and voice actors through his production company CigmaMedia.com.
