Bio

Alex Banbury Jr. is a San Marcos native with deep ties to the Central Texas community. He is the grandson of the late Harvey Miller, a local community activists and son of the late Chris Banbury who served as one of the first Crisis Counselors for the Austin Police Department from 1985 until her retirement in 1995. Needless to say, community service runs deep in his roots. He is a current board member of the Calaboose African American History Museum (Co-Curator, Sound/Video Tech) in San Marcos and the current president of the Dunbar Heritage Association, an organization founded by his grandfather. Among his many interests and talents, he is a licensed personal protection officer/ security guard and has performed personal security detail for President Barack Obama, John Legend, Bill Murray, Tiger Woods, DJ Hella Yella and many others. He currently works as a building engineer at a data hall in Austin, TX. While he is not working or serving his community, he is working alongside his wife, Pastor Jonafa in their ministry where he serves as a deacon. He is the father of three children, Joshua (25), A’leya (23), and Xavier (17) and has been married to his lovely wife for over 26 years.
