Hello all, just a brief introduction of what this space is:
I feel that ragas are innately very evocative and expressive entities.
This means that it becomes the job of the artist to bring out that expression or evoke those emotions, through a combination of thought, craft, and skill.
Music is not just practice, neither is it just thought. Its a healthy mixture of both coupled with soul, pain, and joy.
This space is to discuss how a certain artist, composer, or performer managed to bring out said attributes in a raga.
We will also discuss how the choice of a raga can alter our entire perception about a composition and how some of these choices were made consciously, and some unconsciously.
This is not limited to any particular genre and folks from all walks of music are welcome.
I will start off with brief explanations for some of the ragas I usually work with, either as a part of my practice or otherwise.
Please feel free to contribute as much or as little as you want. I am a firm believer that any interaction between two artists results in a gain of either information, or insight, and I personally will take away more from this club than I give. I hope to make this a space where everyone can feel that way.
Cheers!
