Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival (LACFF) aims to uncover and promote outstanding Chinese language films and ethnically Chinese filmmakers.

Our definition of “Chinese” is not bound by national borders or any specific dialect—we seek to elevate films spoken in Mandarin, Cantonese, Chinese dialect, and other subgroups of the Chinese language.; filmmakers of ethnically Chinese descent including those in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, America and other countries; creators from China’s ethnic minority communities; as well as explorations of Chinese culture and the Chinese diaspora.

We support talents from all religious affiliations, gender identities, and sexual orientations. The selected films encompass a variety of formats: of feature-length and shorts, fiction and documentary, as well as other motion pictures that are more experimental in nature.

Through film screenings, panels, and social events, the Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival strives to foster cultural diversity, advance the understanding of contemporary Chinese film culture in Los Angeles and North America, and build a platform for a Chinese language community. By creating opportunities for cultural exchange and cooperation with outstanding international colleagues, the committee hopes that the festival will serve as a support structure in Los Angeles for independent Chinese language cinema and ethnically Chinese talents.
