A patient-led and patient-centered sanctuary for discussing the specific medical, societal and social issues faced by Long COVID patients, and in solidarity with chronic illness patients historically facing similar challenges globally.
This space seeks to address the physical challenges and realities of patients (as told by the experts: patients) as well as the many social, cultural and economic factors of this novel and debilitating, under-supported illness.
Discussions will address new subjects each week and will:
✔️ be held 2x weekly
✔️ stick to a schedule to honor everyone’s time, energy, and to ensure discussions are most impactful
✔️ consist of physical 🧬 panels on Wednesdays from 12-1PM EST
✔️ consist of social/cultural 👥 panels on Fridays from 12-1PM EST
The goal? To learn from those (and the trailblazing advocates across the chronic illness community, as well as from the various medical and social justice allies) who are actively educating public health officials, medical professionals, researchers, governments, and the public alike: why listen to the middle-man when you can hear it straight from the source?
** Affiliated with the internationally recognized 🦠Body Politic Covid-19 Support Group and Patient-Led Research Collaborative🦠, leading global Long Covid advocacy, research and support since March 2020.**
Be respectful, compassionate & kind.: This is an inclusive, safe space for patients, patient allies, and the informed public. We do not tolerate any form of abuse and will not tolerate biases, prejudices, or misinformation.
State your name & “I’m done speaking” after contributing.: We ask that panelists state their name and speaking status when they engage (i.e. “this is Lauren speaking” at the start, and “this is Lauren and I’m done speaking” at the end) for accessibility.
Stay on topic: time & energy recognition is a love language.: We’ve all been there: we’ve waited to hear the meat of a discussion only to have it occur 20 minutes after time was up. This isn’t our jam. We ask that you stay on topic and respectful of the timing.
