The Ethno/Musicology Club
Hungarian composer Béla Bartók “birthed the field of ethnomusicology as an academic discipline through his tireless pursuits of folk music, his revelation of the sound of the rural people, and his incorporation of folk style into his own personal compositions.” (Nelson 2012).
The Ethno/Musicology club exists to acknowledge pioneers like Bartók, the origins, evolution, and corpus of the academic discipline while interrogating its inequities and celebrating new transformational perspectives. This is a decolonized space.
