Tired of seeing triggering, offensive, and/or insensitive room titles in your hallway? Are you tired of yourself or seeing other people being gaslit on stage by trolls and dominant groups? Tired of being in spaces with moderators and speakers who are only using this app to clout chase? Are you tired of these same moderators allowing or making space for people to be violent and spew harmful rhetoric and narratives? Tired of seeing the same violent and problematic behavior in every room? Want to ask a genuine question but are afraid of acting in a manner that is problematic or don’t feel safe doing so in a room with people who blatantly are? Want to have conversations with people who have the range to speak on a certain subject or are interested in having genuine dialogue? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is the club for you. In this club, we seek to take all attention away from trolls and other disingenuous individuals on this app and instead wish to center productive conversations and community building with intentions of building solidarity, action, momentum and understanding around certain topics. In this club, we prioritize having conversations and in-depth discussions that are rooted in love, accessibility, unlearning, radical pedagogy, centering marginalized groups along with their perspectives, and combating anti-blackness. In these spaces, we don’t seek to attack others or be super defensive either as we are all here to expand our intellectual horizons. When listening to others instead of speaking needs to be prioritized, all parties involved will be muted or sent to the audience. All members are free to nominate others and host rooms.
Be genuine: We are all here to learn and expand our own understandings and the last thing we want to do is reflect and execute the same toxic and problematic behavior present in the spaces we are fleeing!
Check yaself!: Please check all biases, privileges and assumptions surrounding topics at the door and be cognizant of questions asked and statements made in these spaces as we want conversations to be productive.
No ableist language : Safety is a priority in these spaces and that means ridding ourselves of ableist and other forms of oppressive and anti-black language. Failure to do so will get you sent to the audience or removed.
