Every single time a stranger eyed me with lust
I managed to navigate and escape the touch
As the unknown eyes devoured me inch by inch
My skin crawled and shrunk
While I froze under the debris of a million haunting flashbacks!

We have been a commuter by bus almost all our lives, and lost the count of how many times we've been sexually harassed onboard. With shock being our immediate body response all the time, when we managed to speak up we were only ignored, silenced and judged!

The helplessness always got the better of us. We are tired of being on high alert all the time - keys, safety pins, books and bags became our safety weapons in the bus and in public spaces.

This needs to change for each of us and all of us.

As part of #AwaazETelangana, Kaumudi, Jaina, Nikhitha R S and Hima Bindu have come together to denormalise the systemic silence around street sexual harassment, and in that process #BusLoBharosa was born!

Our ask is simple.

We propose to have dedicated Announcements and Laminated Posters against Sexual Harassment inside TSRTC city buses in Hyderabad. We are not saying that this solves it all, but we do think message reinforcements not only spread some awareness but also might trigger behavioural change in the longer run.
