The place to be for all Rays Baseball fans! Background: The Tampa Bay Rays franchise began play in the American League in 1998 as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. After 10 years of futility, including 9 last place finishes, the team was rebranded as the Rays, and almost immediately became a model franchise in Major League Baseball for their ability to put consistently competitive teams on the field. The Rays are widely known for their creative blend of scouting, player development, savvy transactions with other teams, and getting the most out of their players on a smaller budget. Since 2008, they’ve made the playoffs 7 times in an ultra-competitive AL East division that includes the big spending Yankees and Red Sox. The Rays played in the 2008 and 2020 World Series as the American League pennant winners. Their home games are at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
