Description

What does Ubuntu mean and its ties to South Africa?

Ubuntu ngumuntu ngabantu, which means that a person is a person through other people — 𝐈 𝐀𝐌, 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄.

Ubuntu’s roots are tied to the Zulu language and humanist African philosophy, with the idea that community is one of society’s building blocks. It is the nebulous concept of common humanity of oneness.

Ubuntu Architecture Summer Abroad Program started in 2020 and seeks to empower families to overcome economic and social challenges while providing education and real-world opportunity for students.

We created this room to create a space to discuss and talk about issues revolving around systemic racism and the policies (sometimes of the past) that are impacting people today. We are looking to focus on solutions and talk about oneness and the power of Ubuntu.

Together, we can create change but we must discuss how to do so with everyone at the table and become one.
