Echo Chamber Breakout on Clubhouse

Social media echo chambers have become a real issue—so join us to break out from them! We are a group of people from a wide range of perspectives, and schedule rooms specifically with people who think very differently. Some examples: farmer + software engineer, Trump supporter + Biden supporter, climate activist + oil industry exec, feminist + MRA. Debate is OK as long as you can be respectful and accept them for who they are. Just another human. The thesis is if we start from a place of empathy, that’s where real societal change happens. Looking for very gifted moderators.
Be respectful!: Accept others for who they are and be respectful. Listen to others and try to understand them. Instead of jumping to conclusions, ask more questions!
Invite and follow those who dissent: Invite and follow people who disagree with you! The person who passionately disagrees with you on every point. That’s who we want in here.
Open up the room: Don’t shut down others or send them to the audience for disagreeing with you. Wait for them to complete their thoughts and give them a chance for rebuttal.
