AMY KROUSE ROSENTHAL
Amy Krouse Rosenthal was a person who liked to make things. Amy, a prolific and bestselling children's and grown-up book author, memoirist, filmmaker, lecturer, TED Talk presenter, and radio contributor, put a public face to end-of-life decisions and ovarian cancer with her 2017 viral essay in The New York Times titled "You May Want to Marry My Husband." THE AMY KROUSE ROSENTHAL FOUNDATION MISSION
The Amy Krouse Rosenthal Foundation is a non-profit organization providing funding for awareness and research for the early detection of ovarian cancer as well as child literacy, causes important to Amy.
CHILD LITERACY
We are committed to supporting children as they learn to read, so they can explore their imaginations, connect with stories, and ultimately gain the skills they need to make their mark on the world. Studies show that the most successful way to improve the reading achievement of kids is to increase their access to print books. Yet, 60 percent of low-income households have no children's books. Responding to this need, with the partnership of likeminded literacy partners across the country, the Foundation has strategically distributed hundreds of thousands of books to the children who need them most.
OVARIAN CANCER EARLY DETECTION
Because we know that early detection increases a woman's survival rate exponentially, we support ovarian cancer research and education initiatives in this area. The Foundation is funding multiple Amy Krouse Rosenthal Foundation Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Research Grants. These research studies are pursuing new, non-invasive testing strategies for the early detection of ovarian cancer, and ultimately aim to change and save lives.
