Description
Masculinity is genderless; it does not and will never belong to men.
Masculine people have inherited a particular social position based on male-supremacy. But manhood does not inherently mean a man is masculine, nor does being a masculine person mean one desires to be a man. These are limitations we are socialized to embrace and defend under Patriarchy.
In this club, we will we examine, learn and archive possibilities for Black masculinities that aren’t centered around heterosexual men through critical discourse and community dialogue. This space is where Freedom meets Identity.
BGM is a non-profit organization, media and education space centering nuance and shaping accountable masculinities in Black communities. Founded by Nalo Zidan.
BGM will center thought-provoking conversations on:
* Building accountable masculinities
* Masculine privilege
* Black masculinities & Love
* Centering Non-patriarchal masculinities
* Toxic Masculinity Culture
* Queer, Trans & Non-Binary Masculinities
* Black Masculine Futures
* Sex with masculine people
* and so much more!
**BlackGirlMasculine is a space for all non-patriarchal masculine identities and allies, but is not limited to those who identify as “girl”. The title was created to pay homage to Nalo’s journey toward masculinity from girlhood**
