The NIGER DELTA CONGRESS is a movement for the economic and political emancipation of the peoples of the Niger Delta region. The NDC as an organization is created to bring together the ethnic nationalities of the Niger Delta region, including socio-political organizations, Non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, activists, and trade and labour groups which share the aspirations of the peoples of the Niger Delta towards achieving economic and political autonomy for the region and its peoples.

The NIGER DELTA CONGRESS is founded on the necessity of protecting the economic and political rights and freedoms of the different ethnic nationalities of the region, which has since before independence been assaulted by the Nigerian federation, in their bid to ensure complete domination and subjugation of the Delta peoples, so as to ensure minimal resistance and the seamless looting and pillaging of the human and natural resources of the Niger Delta.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

I) To unite the different nationalities of the Niger Delta region across language and culture, to establish and sustain a society that cherishes resistance against oppression as cultural values and to create conditions for total political and economic emancipation, prosperity, and equitable distribution of wealth of the region to the peoples of the region.

ii) To protect the democratic gains of the peoples of the Niger Delta region, therefore enabling them to freely decide and choose their government without fear or favour.

iii) To participate in the global struggle for the complete eradication of imperialism, colonialism, racism and all other forms of discrimination just as has been endured by the Niger Delta peoples.

iv) To imbibe in our younger generation and in the people of the region, the characters of hardwork, honesty, mutual respect, and peaceful co-existence, and to encourage them to desist from any groups, societies or activities that are injurious to the reputation of the Niger Delta people and the NDC.
