➡️This room is a connecting and meeting point between lawyers based in Africa and in Diaspora and business owners and founders within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Let’s discuss market entry strategy and legal issues relating to doing business in the AfCFTA. Let’s discuss African politics and economy in general. Let’s meet, network and share ideas about AfCFTA and doing business in Africa. ➡️ Quick facts: Africa has 55 countries but 54 have signed the AfCFTA treaty. Trading started in the AfCFTA in January 2021. Africa has a population of 1.3 Billion market/people with a combined GDP of $3.6 Trillion. The AfCFTA will increase intra-African trade from about 17% (currently) to above 50%. The World Bank has projected that by 2035, the AfCFTA will lift 30 million Africans out of poverty through the removal of tariffs in 97% of goods traded within the AfCFTA. The AfCFTA Protocol on trade in services will liberalize the service sector across Africa and this is where legal services come in.
