Neelam cultural center on Clubhouse

Description

Neelam Cultural Centre is a collective of artists, ‘art-ivists’, activists and friends from the Tamil film fraternity. It is a platform to create public stages for expression through arts and cultural practices. Through this we hope to initiate discussions around social inequality and social justice in the society, especially among youth. It was Director Pa. Ranjith who initiated the discussion about a need for such a platform during the process of establishing The Casteless Collective (TCC- An ensemble of gaana performers) which is now an integral part of the Neelam Cultural Centre. The objective is to establish it as a cultural movement putting forward ideas, cultural practices and life stories of members of the oppressed communities in society.
The Neelam cultural centre believes in the ideals laid down by BabaSaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the ideas behind the cultural formations like the Black Arts Movement, which was a part of the Black liberation movement. While the focus is on the arts and cultural practices of the oppressed communities, NCC also reaches out and extends solidarity to communities and individuals affected due to caste based discrimination.
