Earlier generations of fathers and men in general had the authority and the masculinity that men don’t have today. The mandate has been taken away from men and given to the state. The state is governing the households and is instructing how the households should be run, especially in the Scandinavian countries. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for worse. Society has changed a lot in past 100 years. It has changed so radically that many men are losing their ground. Statistics show that men are increasing in suicide, failing in school, having hard time finding a suitable partner or don’t want to settle down because they see that it’s a bad deal for them. Kids are growing up in single parent households and not having a father-figure that they can look up too. The society is not working as before and it requires a different type of man that is both masculine and can orientate himself socially in the new world. Our DNA is still the same as thousands of years ago but the society is so different. Former patriarchal societies with masculine values do no longer exist in Scandinavia and its slowly changing in the same direction all over the world. It requires many new skills to survive and thrive in todays new world, thus the way of the modern masculine man.
