Description
Sound system culture is the foundation of Jamaican music, created in the dancehall space, acting as the amplified voice of inner city especially, and ordinary Jamaicans. Representative of the daily clashes that they encounter in a society that appears to militate their success, sound system allows its creators, operators, and audience to celebrate in the face of oppression. It's selectors, or should I says griots, tells stories that articulate life's deepest emotions, expressions that facilitate the recreation of self, through word, sound, power.
