A place for both having hard conversations and talking about how to have them well - particularly about race and other topics that tend to polarize…..based on the philosophy of Dr. David Campt, known on The Daily Show as The White People Whisperer.
We speak primarily from our own experiences: Our conversations will inevitably touch on our opinions about how the world works, but we will ground our discussion in our actual personal experiences. Such conversations are more focused.
No group denigrations: We will be careful about making broad generalizations about groups of people, especially ones that are negative.
We will rarely debate racism’s existence: Our room focuses on how to support conversations across the divide of folks who think racism against POCs is merits focus and those who don’t. We are going to spend a lot of time debating racism.
